📦 Build a shipping cutoff cascade before December gets away from you
USPS recommends mailing by December 17 for Ground Advantage, December 18 for Priority Mail and December 19 for Priority Mail Express to reach the lower 48 states by December 25. Alaska and Hawaii Ground Advantage closes a day earlier.
Those are carrier dates. Yours are earlier, because orders still need picking and packing.
Calculate your real cutoffs
Your cutoff = carrier mail-by date − your fulfillment time in business days
If you ship within two business days, your Ground Advantage cutoff is about December 15. Run the same math for each method and region you ship to.
Turning those dates into a send schedule is where Omnisend's BFCM AI playbook helps. Its prompts turn last year's results into a campaign calendar your team can work from, so each cutoff gets its own send. You can try the BFCM prompts.
Send four emails, one per cutoff
- Standard shipping cutoff: "Last day for free shipping to arrive by the 25th."
- Upgrade window: "Still time with express. Here's what the upgrade costs."
- Final guaranteed day: your express cutoff, framed as the last chance for a physical gift.
- After the cutoff: e-gift cards, which deliver instantly.
Segment by region. Customers far from your warehouse need earlier sends, and Alaska and Hawaii customers need the earliest.
Price the late-gift problem
Say 600 orders are placed on December 16 with standard shipping and 20% land after Christmas. That's 120 disappointed gift buyers. If half ask for a refund on a $70 order, that's $4,200, before support time. These figures are illustrative.
Fix: after each cutoff, hide or relabel slower shipping methods at checkout, and show an estimated arrival date beside every option.
Update the site the same day
Add a banner with the next cutoff date, and swap it when each one passes. Product pages should show "arrives by December 24" only while that's true.
Sell the gap
After the last physical cutoff, lead every email and SMS with gift cards. Add a printable "your gift is on its way" card for buyers who still order a physical item.
Plan for the gift card balances
Add a short "how to spend it" note and a signup invitation to the e-gift card delivery email itself. January is quiet, and those balances are ready-made demand.
Calculate your four cutoffs and add them to your campaign calendar. Every email after December 15 depends on them.

Together with SurveyMonkey
Make the Next Decision With Real Feedback

You need to know why customers aren’t buying. But commissioning research takes budget, and running it yourself adds work to a team already chasing targets.
SurveyMonkey does the research work for you. You choose what to test and who to reach. It recruits respondents through its paid panel and analyzes their answers, giving you findings to guide your next decision.
Here’s what that looks like:
- Tweezerman validated 10 product ideas with SurveyMonkey Audience, gathering consumer feedback in days to guide product launches.
- Greyhound reduced weekly customer-feedback analysis from 3 hours to 3 minutes, freeing station managers to act on the findings.
- Helix Sleep cut product-development time by 50% using survey insights. Its resulting pillow sold out in the first month.
Put your next product idea or pricing decision through customer research. You’ll have evidence to decide what needs changing before committing to the rollout.

🛒 Shopify lets AI agents complete purchases as Google and ChatGPT expand AI shopping
Shopify, American Express, OpenAI and Google are introducing new AI shopping capabilities, allowing agents to complete purchases, verify customer instructions and help shoppers find products through AI-powered search.

The Breakdown:
ChatGPT and Google Refine AI Shopping - ChatGPT is testing a shopping box where users select product types and budgets before searching. Meanwhile, Google AI Mode Shopping ads are displaying promotional offers with clickable discount details.
Shopify Lets AI Agents Complete Purchases - Shopify's new Shop MCP allows compatible AI agents to search over 1 billion products, build carts, and complete Shop Pay checkout after customer confirmation. Orders appear directly in merchants' Shopify dashboards.
Amex Adds Protection Against Unauthorized Purchases - American Express introduced an Intent Intelligence Framework that records customer-approved budgets, merchants, and product preferences. Its Proof of Intent Token helps prevent agents from purchasing items outside those instructions.
Google Tests Prescription Ads in AI Search - Google is testing branded prescription drug advertisements within AI Mode and AI Overviews in the United States, extending AI-powered advertising into a heavily regulated product category.
AI shopping is moving closer to complete transactions, with agents handling product discovery, checkout and payment verification. For retailers, accurate product data, inventory information and promotional offers could become increasingly important as AI systems influence which products shoppers discover and purchase.
